About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead quality engineering initiatives across backend, web, and mobile platforms. This role focuses on test platform development, performance engineering, CI/CD integration, and driving automation at scale. You will play a key role in building robust test frameworks, improving system reliability, and enabling fast, high-quality releases.

What you'll do

• Design and build scalable, reusable test automation frameworks for backend, web, and mobile applications.
• Continuously evaluate emerging AI tools and run POCs to drive efficiency, improve test automation, and enhance quality engineering practices.
• Build and maintain unified automation platforms integrating performance, functional, and end-to-end testing to ensure comprehensive test coverage, faster feedback cycles, and improved release quality.
• Design and develop custom tooling including Slack bots, dashboards, webhooks, and reporting systems to streamline workflows, enhance observability, and enable real-time insights for engineering teams.
• Develop platform-level testing solutions to support multiple teams.
• Establish best practices for test architecture, code quality, and maintainability.
• Lead testing strategy for microservices (backend), web UI, and mobile apps.
• Implement API automation, UI automation, and integration testing.
• Design and execute performance, load, and scalability testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.
• Define and lead the automation roadmap across teams. Collaborate with product, engineering, and DevOps teams.
• Mentor junior SDETs and influence engineering culture toward quality.

What we're looking for

• 8–12+ years in QA/SDET roles, with strong leadership experience.
• Frameworks: experience building test frameworks from scratch (e.g., TestNG, JUnit, Selenium, Appium, REST Assured).
• Backend testing: strong in API, microservices, and contract testing.
• Performance testing: experience with tools like K6, JMeter, Gatling, or similar.
• CI/CD: hands-on with tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.
• Automation: proven track record of driving automation at scale.
• Cloud/platform: familiarity with AWS/GCP/Azure, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Mobile testing: experience with Android/iOS automation.
• Practices: strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile, DevOps.
• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
• Knowledge of security testing.
• Experience in platform engineering or developer tooling.
• Experience building common library repo published to Nexus Repository, JFrog Artifactory.
• Experience with Android/iOS automation using real devices, emulators and cloud labs like TestMu, Browserstack etc.
